Braided design works better than plastic but keep an eye on the battery charge indicator.
I like the braided design as compared to the plastic one which started to wear out fairly quickly. I bought a heat gun and some shrink tubing to use on them, like another customer did. Shrink tubing has prevented damage to the braided cable so far, but I am getting audible tones and if I don’t pay attention to the battery symbol on my iPhone, the charge will drop. I rarely get the incompatible message, or I just haven’t been able to catch it yet as often as I have with other offbrand cables. This occurred after only having used the reinforced new cable for a few days. I get the feeling this is common among all cables. I am using these to replace worn out Apple cables. My son said his Apple cables wear out quite frequently. I still like the braided reinforced cables because they do not curl and wear out as fast as the others. Though they still did not last long. It is a wonder that any cable would, considering all the stress it has to go through. Plus I bought the shorter cable which obviously doesn’t have as much to curl up and kink. I’ll be glad when Amazon designs and sells a wireless connection between the Android/iPhone and battery. Then no more cables to wear out. April 16, 2018. Three months since I have bought the cables. I have been using one consistently every day and considering all the wear and tear it goes through, I guess I can’t expect the cable to last forever. My iPhone just recently started giving errors and showing the battery symbol has been disconnected. Time to switch to the second table I bought. Let’s see how long this one lasts. I usually carry my Anker power bank in my back pocket connected with this cable to my iPhone that I carry in my front pocket. The cable does tend to get twisted, but I do try to keep it straight. This cable also has the same shrink tubing that I applied to the first table when I bought them.
