My cat LOVES this bed! But it's more than just a great bed - it's a time and money saver if you have a pet whose bedding needs to be changed often. Here's why:
My cat is older & has medical issues, and he often unintentionally drags litter and even bits of poop into his bed. This means I have to wash the bed all the time, which is time consuming and expensive, since I have to first clean it by hand, spray it with disinfectant, let that dry, then take it to the laundromat and wash & dry it by itself with no other items. And if I can't do it right away, then the poor baby doesn't have a bed until I can get it all done.
I realized that if I could get some kind of cover for his bed, then I could just buy several covers and wash those like once a month, instead (keeping the soiled ones in a garbage bag until I am ready to wash). But usually beds with removable covers only come with one cover. So then I thought - what about pillow cases? I can easily buy a bunch of those! But the bed he had at the time, and most of the nice beds online, were just slightly too big or the wrong shape for pillowcases. The ones that did fit, are mostly not much more than padded mats without raised edges or much stuffing. Not very cuddly at all.
That's where this bed comes in. It's the perfect size to fit in a large pillowcase, yet at the same time, it's still super fluffy and has the edges all around that he likes so he can feel cozy (because I was thinking of literally just giving him a pillow to sleep on, but then he wouldn't have walls to lean his head on). The self-warming bit was a bonus, because he loves his self-warming mat for naps, although he prefers a bed with edges for a full night's sleep. Now he has the best of both!
I also bought a pack of 12 inexpensive pillowcases to cover it with, and they fit perfectly. He ran to the bed immediately when I put it down, and jumped right in, because he had been missing his old bed which I still hadn't had time to take to the laundromat. Success!!
Now every time I see litter in the bed, I just remove the pillowcase and put on a new one. And I can wash the pillowcases once a month at my leisure. Happy cat & happy owner!

My old cat loves it, even over the heater!
So I have an old lady cat (will have had her for 15 years this April, she likely around 17-20 years old) and she just had surgery. She's always been a heat fiend, worshipping the space heater when it's put out during the colder months. But she was so cold after her last surgery, I figured I'd invest in another bed for her to lounge around in so she didn't have to stay right next to the heater all day. This bed was perfect. No electricity to be a fire hazard (heated blankets always make me nervous), no matter where I put it (usually switch between the bedroom and my computer chair) she finds it and snuggles in. Oh sure, she'll still lay in the regular, cheap Walmart bed by the heater, but it's amazing she'll chose this over the heater sometimes! I like the materiel. It's suede-like, making it easier to clean up hair that fluffier materiel may try to hang on to. Good plushness to the stuffing so it's comfortable and supportive for her old body. Overall, worth the price (which did make me hesitate; after all, the Walmart bed is only 7 bucks). I also bought the flat bed version from this brand to put in her cat carrier that she also likes to hide out in, which is also a hit, both with her and my 1.5 year old "kitten."

Updated 2023 review: It's been 12 years since I bought this bed (bought in 2011) for my dog who wasn't even a year old at that time and will be 12 this year. The bed is going strong - it's been peed and puked on but it's so easy to clean Throw it into the washer and dryer and it comes out looking nice and new. We also gained a cat a few year ago - not only does my dog still love this bed, the cat absolutely loves it too. They both love it so much that they proceeded to share the bed even though they do not fancy each other. The only time you will ever see them this close side by side is when they are laying on this bed. I don't know what wizardry is used in making this bed but it is indeed magical. The first few pictures are the original ones I attached in 2011 and the last two are new pictures of them sharing the bed. I feel that this bed deserves an updated review to show how durable and well loved it is by the pets. It also makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside that my now senior dog has loved and used this bed since he was a baby. Thank you for such a great pet product!
2011 review: Bed is made nicely and is soft and comfy. I was looking for a bed that would be comfy but at the same time didn't have material that bits could come off easily if my dog chews on it and this bed definitely fit my criteria. My 5.8lbs silky terrier chihuahua mix puppy loved it and uses the raised sides for neck and head support. The size is just right to fit in his crate and is the right size for him. Not sure about the warm bit but it must provide at least some warmth because my boy hates the cold and snuggles nicely into this bed at night. The color isn't bad either; it gives off a nice, warm look and feel. Since it is made from recycled plastic, you can hear plastic noises when he shifts on the bed at night but it isn't that much of a bother. Overall, I'm really happy with this product and am so glad my dog loves it!
