    Product Description

Go all out with the Jaybird X3 Wireless Headphones; These earbuds are designed to be tiny, but packed to the brim with functionality, unbeatable comfort, and incredible sound quality.

    The 3rd incarnation in Jaybird’s X series, these are the culmination of the company’s sports earbud innovations. Smaller than ever, the X3 has a longer battery life, better sound, and a more secure fit. The in-ear speaker design has been significantly reduced by 20% and houses an enhanced 6mm driver for subtle lows and a booming bass. The smaller frame is more convenient to handle and offers a comfortable fit for different ear sizes. The earbuds can even be worn underneath a helmet. The frame is made from sandblasted, injection-molded metal for heavy-duty durability and a sleek style that does not affect Bluetooth signal strength. Additionally, the hydrophobic nano-coating makes the whole earbud waterproof, preventing sweat, snow, and rain from affecting your soundtrip; The X3 serves as a reliable partner for athletes and savvy business travelers who are always on the go. Be ready to answer an important call anywhere with confidence;

A wide variety of customized fit options are already included inside the box. The patented silicone ear fins (S, M, L) keep the buds securely inside your ear or can be used to hang them over the top. Lift the cord off your neck for a comfortable workout experience; Additionally, the Comply memory foam ear tips are designed to provide maximum noise isolation and comfort. They lock in the headphone for a super secure fit, whether you’re on a calm jog or riding an MTB trail.

Also, the MySound app allows you to customize every aspect of your sound: from the rumbling lows to the sweetest highs; Customize every detail with the easy-to-understand interface. Compatible with iOS 9+ and Android 4.4+, your customized presets save directly onto the X3 buds, carrying them over to any music device or streaming service/app you use. Listen the way you want to or discover how your favorite athletes and artists enjoy their music through their custom sound profiles. Also, the Multipoint function allows you to simultaneously pair and connect the X3 buds to two different Bluetooth devices. Listen to your music through your laptop while still answering calls on your phone with the bud controller. You can also share your music with ease, as two separate buds can connect to the same Bluetooth device, eliminating the need to share earphones. You can even connect to your smartwatch and leave your smartphone at home!

With 8 hours of battery life, the Jaybird X3 is just as ready as you are for any exciting adventure; Run wild and stop worrying about your sound quality. The X3 has got you covered.

    Awesome bluetooth headphones!
I don't normally write reviews but I've enjoyed these headphones so much that I felt it necessary. First of all I'm a bit of an audiophile and it takes quite a bit to impress me as far as speakers and headphones. I had gotten rather tired of corded headphones so I started looking into wireless. Initially I was leaning towards the Bose Soundsports (yes I know Bose is usually overpriced) but I was familiar with Bose products so I started there. I read a lot of bad reviews on the Soundsports which put me off, then the final nail in the coffin was the bulky size of them. I noticed during my research that the Jaybird X3's kept popping up, but I had never heard of Jaybird so that concerned me. Well I read a ton of amazon reviews and watched some youtube review videos and was decided to give them a shot. I ordered the X3's on amazon with free 1 day delivery. When I got them the next day the first thing I noticed was how nice the box was, you can tell Jaybird put some time and money into it. Once I got them out I was impressed with how they were built and felt, they just seem to have that expensive feel. I then fiddled around with the different earbud attachment configurations, I opted for the medium ear fin with the small isolation foam tips. The earphones bluetooth paired easily and effortlessly with my iPhone 6S and I began to listen to some different music. I wasn't really expecting anything great with any type of bluetooth headphones and when I first put these on I thought the sound was decent but not anything amazing. However once I downloaded the Jaybird MySound app and began to readjust the equalizer these headphones came alive (Oh and they get plenty loud if you’re wondering) I was really impressed with the sound, I could even make custom presets for any type of music or audio situation. The app also comes with some pre configured presets, however I was not impressed with these and I'm not sure how they made it on there. Now I will not say that these are better than most high quality wired earbuds, and I was not expecting them to be, but for what they are the sound is amazing and has exceeded by expectations. With a little adjusting in the MySound equalizer the highs are nice crisp, the mids are good and the bass response is pretty solid although maybe lacking just a tad in the very lowest frequency range. They fit in my ear snug and don't move even during rigorous exercise (I do a lot of running and weights). The battery life is amazing, I got every bit of the 8 hours that Jaybird advertises. Compare that to the Bose Soundsports that advertise 6 hours (which in many reviews wouldn't even get that). I will admit though that the charging cable that came with the X3's seems a bit odd, and it doesn't come with an actual wall plug only the USB connection. It wasn't a big deal for me cause I have plenty of USB wall plugs. I would say if your thinking about buying the Jaybird X3's go ahead and do it, just realize that they are not wired headphones and the sound quality will not be the same but for what they are the sound quality is amazing and has exceeded my expectations.

I've been buying Jaybird products for quite some time. I wanted to write a review on these, both for consumers and for the employees at Jaybird/Logitech (hopefully they will see this).

These headphones are a definite improvement on the x2's in just about every way. While the x2's are already great headphones, they had some reliability issues and suffered when you sweat a lot or over long periods of time. I run marathons and such, so while the first 10 miles are so fine at a moderate pace, anything longer than 10 miles (or shorter at a more rigorous pace) and the overall sweat exposure makes it so they have trouble staying in place. I never really figured it was a big deal, and was just something I had to endure while running longer distances. While I have yet to really put the x3's through the ringer, I have got some decent miles on them and their moisture tolerance appears much better.

The sound quality is nice and clear, no complaints there.

The battery life is an improvement. I think my x2's were clocked for about 4 hours, but after frequent recharges, the batter life starts to suffer, so unless they are just charged prior to a run, they tended to run out of juice if I have the volume too high and use clicker to skip tracks and such. With the estimated 8 hours of battery on the x3's I don’t see that being an issue.

It's difficult to judge these things on reliability because the x2's only tended to have issues after serious use and time. I'll come back and revise this review if I notice anything with the reliability here.

If I were to stop the review here, I would give the x3's 5 stars. Seriously. Love Jaybird. Love the x1's, x2's and x3's.

However, we've got to talk about how these things charge. I try not to be drastic or hyperbolic, but whoever designed the charging clip and the manager/marketing teams involved with approving the design ought to be beaten with a stick. Seriously, just awful, or maybe just half-assed, not quite sure. Not only did Jaybird abandon using the de-facto industry standard that they had in the x2's (USB micro-b) but they implemented a poor alternative. Yeah, I can see WHY they dropped USB micro-b, having to uncap the bud and stick in the USB jack took up a lot of valuable space in the ear bud and introduced a moisture vulnerability, I can see that, but I have a couple arguments against their new design:

      1. If I lose the proprietary clip I am in serious trouble.

      2. It takes some time to get the clip attached to the headphones. The clip is keyed so that it will only go on in a particular way, but they keying is very non-obvious; so you need to be paying full attention to get the headphones to fit correctly. At first blush, the contacts appear reversible, but there is a little nub that is difficult to notice that prevents the buds from making partial contact or getting attached in a reversed position. It's like going back to the original BlueBuds in 2010 with their cradle. It was a pain in the neck getting the BlueBuds to sit right so that they would charge for longer than a few minutes before the tension in the cord caused the buds to come loose in the cradle, lose contact and stop charging. While I don’t see the x3's coming loose while charging, it re-introduces the most annoying bug in one of Jaybird’s earliest products.

      3. The proprietary charging can work, but just needed to be done correctly. Take the Garmin Forerunner 630 for example; it charges via a very similar principle: Full sized USB A to proprietary charging contacts. However, the clip and watch are keyed in such a way that the user can get the watch hooked up to charge with a single hand in pitch black. Ideally, we wouldn't have proprietary charging clips, and everything would either be USB C, or micro-B, OR better yet, inductive... which leads me to my next point...

      4. Why the hell aren't these things using QI? Inductive charging is just awesome. I can’t think of anything more convenient that would also make it so they don’t have to waste space on a USB jack in the earbud, and allow them in increase their moisture resistance. How great would it be if I could just take these things off, and drop them on the same charging mat I use for my cell and tablet until they are ready to go again? Missed opportunity there.

With that in mind, I really like everything about the x3’s besides the charging. If you are using a wired headphone or your wireless headphones are a little tattered and need to be swapped out, don’t hesitate, these are great buys. The transition from wired athletic headphones to wireless fundamentally changed how I exercised.

Granted, I will probably continue to use the x3’s for their extended battery life and moisture tolerance, but man, I can’t help but feel there is a real missed opportunity with their charging.

Update 12/27/2017: Broken. I just looked at my amazon orders for Jaybird products: 8 purchases since 2015, all broken except the most recent one. I love the functionality, comfort and simplicity these offer over my old wired headphones, but the constant breaking has made supporting this company almost untenable. I want to continue to support them given that Jaybird is based in my city, but i don't think i can justify any good reviews or patronage anymore. The X4's (if there ever are any) need to have no other changes other than hardening the product and increasing the reliability.

Have contacted customer support. Will see what they can do to help.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Audio...Better With the App
Reviewed in Canada on February 9, 2018
These headphones are great, especially if you can get them on sale. As someone who has experience with pro audio equipment these produce decent audio (as far as earbuds go). The sound quality is a little 'mushy' and maybe too middle heavy at first, though these imbalances can be fixed through the app. THE APP!!! It's so great, it works amazingly, and I love the flexibility it provides to alter the balance based on what you're listening to. Connection is strong and setup is easy. I only use the comply tips as the other ones are slippery and either don't stay in my ear, or don't provide a good seal (this is my only major issue). Fitting is very fiddly at first, and I almost resturned them, but after a week, you get it down, and will have no problems. Otherwise audio is good, convenience of Bluetooth is great. Had them for four months and will update if anything goes awry.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer beware. Constantly cuts out and drastically inferior to previous models.

I owned and loved the X1's for many years, so when they finally died I bought these without even the slightest hesitation (clicked the buy button minutes after my old ones died). I do not think I have ever been so disappointed before. This is the first product in years that I will go through all the hassle to return. I found the sound quality to be fine and they definitely seem to be better resistant to sweat but that ends the positives. The sound channel is narrower and gets plugged with sweat easily, the fit is not quite as good as the old ones, and the charging dock is just stupid and proprietary. But I could have lived with all those issues, it's the abysmal bluetooth reception that makes these headphones unusable. The X1s never cut out on me. I could walk around my entire condo and never lose connection, working out was flawless, cycling and walking/hiking; I never had a connection drop. The X3s cut out if i turn my head the wrong way, even with my phone a few feet away. Constantly cut out while hiking, working out and all other activities make this product utter garbage. I have no idea if logitech's influence is what brought the quality down or what, but I am now scared to buy another jaybird product.

Update: I bought a pair of Anker SoundBuds and I am very happy. Sound quality is not quite as good (not bad), and they tend to be a bit bass heavy but the connection is way better, they fit perfectly and they use a standard micro usb. Also they are $25, which just puts the X3s to shame.
