Affresh® washing machine cleaner deep cleans even where you can’t see to help remove odor-causing residues and build-up that can form in machines over time. Specially formulated to dissolve slowly throughout the entire wash cycle, affresh® washer cleaner is an easy and effective way to clean your washing machine pump and valve, behind the basket and drum, wash tub, agitator or filter, and drain hose. Just drop one tablet in an empty washer and run on a normal hot or Clean Washer cycle for a fresh, clean appliance. Made with U.S. EPA Safer Choice certified ingredients, the time-release tablets are septic safe and can be used with top or front load washing machines, including HE. Affresh Washer Cleaner removes and prevents odor-causing residue that can occur in all washers. While bleach only kills odor-causing bacteria leaving behind the detergent residue, Affresh Washer Cleaner uses surfactant chemistry to remove the root problem. Affresh cleaner is a formulated, slow-dissolve, foaming tablet that gets under residue, breaks it up, and washes it away leaving the washer smelling fresh and clean. Simply place one tablet in the wash basket (without clothes) and run a Normal Cycle (hot option) or Clean Washer Cycle. Affresh brand is safe on septic tanks, and safe for all washer components. Use once a month to keep your machine fresher and cleaner. Package includes six tablets.

I hate to admit it, but it has been at least 3 years since we purchased our washer, and we just got around to using this product in it. With that said, we used this in our top loading machine recently. The product performed very well. The product removed the sour smell from the machine which came from the work clothing we used as we built our house and performed yard maintenance. I also had some pretty smelly shirts from working on the tractor and other machinery that contributed to the condition of the washer. This product cleaned the tub and water pump with ease. As I said before, the machine had a foul odor before dropping this into the EMPTY machine and using the CLEAN MACHINE setting. When the cycle was done, the odor was gone. We will be using this from now on. I recommend this for any machine that seems to frequently have an odor problem.

I’ve been using Affresh Washing Machine Cleaner every month for routine maintenance, and it does a solid job keeping my washer fresh. The tablets are easy to use—just toss one into the drum and run a hot water cycle. After each use, I notice a subtle clean scent, and it helps prevent musty odors from building up.

That said, if your washer already has a strong mildew smell or visible residue, this won’t magically deep-clean it in one go. I used these Affresh tabs a couple of years ago in a normal top loader washer a few years back when we were renting. It was the washer that came with the house. They did a really good job of cleaning the washer and making it smell fresh.

We now have an LG HE front loading washer and we keep the door open on the washer to keep the inside of the washer dry and so it doesn’t build up mold around the seal. We’ve owned it for about 2 years. I decided to buy some of the Active cleaning tablets since they were a little cheaper. The tablets were about a third of the size. I ran the cleaning cycle two separate times the inside of my washer smelled.

I bought the Affresh tablets and ran the cycle once and it smelled clean and did a good job of cleaning the inside of my washer. Would highly recommend.
