- Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2017Update - 3/1/17: The updated app's Ink-To-Text won't work more than half of the time. When it "works", it won't recognize 70% of my handwriting which was mostly good for the original version. It becomes a paperweight now. If Amazon allows, I would give it negative 5 stars! DO NOT BUY!!!
Update - 2/26/17: There's an app update a few days ago. It had caused major problem for me in terms of Ink-To-Text. It failed to recognize about half of my handwriting, even the old notes the previous version did well. Drop to 2-stars. Wacom: please revert to the old algorithm, at least for the ink-to-text portion!
Original Review:
I have been using the Bamboo Spark for a couple of weeks now and I love it! The 1-star deduction is due to the notepad is a bit small.
The Ink-to-Text feature could recognize 80-90% of my hand writing in the first couple of usage. Now I kind of know how to take notes to help it better convert to text. I consistently get 90%+ conversion accuracy. The app works for my iPhone and Samsung Galaxy, though I use it mostly for iPhone currently. I notice some previous reviews saying that you can you go back to edit previous notes. But the Combine function makes it possible. I go back to whatever pages, add or cross out some notes, upload it. Then in the Library, pick the previous and new page to combine. Now you get edited page. You can convert it to text again, or upload/email it as PDF, JPG, or any format supported by the app.
All in all, I really love it. Now I can search my previous notes easily. I would highly recommend this product.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2017Such a cool thing! Love it. You can use it to make a schedule, shopping list or draw, and have all of those on your IPhone or IPad - always with you. Very helpful for people who doing design; export your hand drawing and image trace it into vector.
Works well with just a drawing pad the same size as Bamboo Paper. You can fit your IPad Air into sleeve, maybe a little too tight, but works for me. I have been using for a week everyday and battery still more then 50%.
What I did not like:
- in order to highlight something you have to export it to Bamboo Paper though Inkspace cloud. Inkspace allows you to export file from your Spark to your Ipad, draw, split the image in time, and export. Bamboo Paper allows you to load a file from Inkspace cloud and you can highlight, draw, place an image from your gallery into your file and export files.
- as soon as you click the button you are exporting a file and it starts new page. I did not find the way to pause it or something that will allow me to start my note, pause it and continue in a few hours. Maybe if you keep it turned on it will be just fine, I did not tried, but for me it is not an option.
- pen a little thick, as well as pin. Not a big deal, but some people might not like. It is hard to do any detailed drawing with it.
- I used hand cream and took my Spark in a few min after and now it has finger prints on the top part of the cover.
- do not expect the drawing to be 100% accurate on the screen, but it is doing just a great job.
I think it is a great gift for someone as well as for yourself. One of those things that you can easily live without, but it is sooo lovely to have one.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2016I've had this for about 5 months now. So far I like it. I love taking notes by hand so it comes very handy when I'm at workshops and conferences taking notes and having digital copies in Evernote to refer back later. I used to take notes by hand then type them later on my computer. But with Spark, I can just save the handwritten notes and export it as PDF or JPEG to Evernote (or wherever I want to keep the notes). I also love making mind maps by hand. Yes, true, you can take a photo of what you've written/drawn to get a digital copy instead of using Spark. But I like how I can add more things later even after I synced it to combine two different notes into one. I sometimes use Bamboo Paper app to edit and add highlighting to the notes I created with Spark.
As many people have expressed, I wish there were other kinds of pens that work with Spark, especially when drawing or sketching, I'd prefer using broader tip or roller pen type. Not so thrilled with the Spark pen. I hope they will come up with more pen lines for Spark soon (or something we can just attach to our favorite pens to use it with Spark). I think I would use this much more often if I could use other pens. I haven't changed the cartridge yet so not sure how that is yet.
You can use any kind of papers on Spark. I bought some cheap sketchbooks for kids. (not high quality one--inexpensive but little thicker than typical notebook sheets). The ones I found was about the size of the Spark notepad so I just rip some papers out and stapled it on the top to make small notepads. I also like to use index cards on it. 4x6 cards work pretty good. I line up on the top and use it then save the note. then use the back of the card line up to the bottom if I want to combine the front and back of the notes on 4x6 index card. After I sync them, I just combine these two notes into one.
I also have some sync problem/issues with Spark. I've found what works best for me is that I often just save the notes on Spark when writing. Then sync them later. I turn on the bluetooth first on my device (I'm using Android device), then open the Spark app on my device, then turn on Spark. Usually this sequencing syncs the best for me. Once synced to my device, I edit on Bamboo Paper app if needed and save ("share") to Evernote or One Note for later use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excelente digitalizadora!

4.0 out of 5 stars Si tan sólo la pluma fuera otra

1.0 out of 5 stars Decepcionada de la calidad
