Beautifully crafted from natural, sustainable Moso bamboo, the two-toned board brings a touch of island style to your kitchen. It features caps of natural light bamboo flanking the main cutting surface of rich caramelized bamboo. Bamboo is an excellent cutting surface: it's lightweight yet durable and gentle on knives. The Kauai Bamboo Cutting Board is perfectly sized for everyday use at 14-1/2 inches long and 11-1/2 inches wide. It's ideal for chopping vegetables, carving chicken, slicing fruits or even serving a spread of meats and cheeses. It provides plenty of space for food prep and serving while still being easy to store. When the food prep is done, the Kauai Cutting Board cleans easily with hand washing; do not soak or wash in the dishwasher.

Why Bamboo?
Bamboo is gentler on knives than plastic and easier to clean and maintain than hardwood— it cleans quickly with hand washing in warm water.
As a grass, its roots remain and quickly regrows after harvest. It's grown organically even on difficult terrain without artificial irrigation or re-planting.
Its root system helps to prevent erosion. And the Moso bamboo used by Totally Bamboo is not a part of the panda's diet.

FALSE ADVERTISING
Although this cutting board seems to be very well made my MAJOR complaint is that the thickness was less than advertised. To me this IS a big deal. I wanted a cutting board that was at least 3/4" so it would not tend to warp over time. In the description, it stated that the board was 0.8 inches thick (slightly over 3/4" (.75"). When I got the board the actual measurement (taken with a vernier caliper) came to .640 which is just slightly over 5/8" (.625). The Kauai was at 5/8". Folks....that's a big deal! I bought three of these cutting boards the Kauai, Kona and Hana all made from Totally Bamboo. All three were advertised at .8 inches thick but all were found at about 5/8" inches thick. I was going to return them but my wife wanted to keep them. I hope I won't be sorry. Totally Bamboo needs to QA their products to ensure their craftsmen are making the product they advertise. If not Totally Bamboo AND their distributors should change the dimensions. I don't like FALSE ADVERTISING!!
