- Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2014UPDATE: For the reviewers complaining about the "kink" ... its really a non-issue. I've had two of these and both have a kink sometimes depending on how the raft blows up. It does not affect the performance of the raft in anyway once you sit in it. Also, a kink can be eliminated for the most part if you use your lungs for the final "top off" pressurization. You basically hold the bag close by the fitting and then blow into that as hard as you can (you'd be surprised at how taught the raft can become). Even if you don't do that a kink literally goes to normal once you are out on the water (unless the raft is severely under inflated). When I bought this the raft was about 120 bucks. I feel at its current price its pushing the envelope on price. I can say I had a few years on the first raft going down some rougher stuff and fishing. The second raft was a replacement sent to me free by Kylmit (1st raft had the spot welds of the seat fail). The 1st raft was fixed with using inflatable boat sealant and given to my brother. Its very beat up but useable. Now I bought a more durable russian made packraft for about 2x the price of this one. I still use the kylmit on nice days but the larger raft is preferable if you want to stay dry or its cold.
original:
Ok... for a long time i wanted to try out packrafting, but no way could I stomach the price for something like an alpacka. Saw this thing online and tried to research it a bunch but there was literally no reviews or much youtube footage. I heasitated for a while then saw a review by PATMAN on youtube that finally sold me on it. Glad I bought it.
First let me say this is no way an alpacka raft but that being said its no way near as heavy and for the price its great. Secondly you will get wet. Don't expect this to be as dry as a kayak... its not that. packrafting is not a dry sport anyhow.
However, This thing is extremely packable (loaf of bread size), and can be blown up and taken down in mins. I've had this thing out on ponds and some rivers. It actually can be paddled. Again, not a kayak but way better than swimming.
The material seems fairly solid... its not a pool toy but not as tough as my zodiac boat either. Also its not that pool material madeout of PVC, its feels more cloth like. Definately durable and light (did I say VERY Light... cuz it is). The shape is just plain odd, but it works. You look like a dork in the thing, but i gotta say i was grinning ear to ear.
Its definately a niche product, but a blast for when you want something to float around on, fish from, camping / hiking and need to cross pond, river, or lake. I weigh 200 lbs and floats me more than fine. Its a really well thought out package w/ its bag that doubles as an inflator. I'm sure this thing will be fun for quite some time. Being out 5-6 times I already feel like i have gotten my moneys worth.
Also, it adds to the variety of hiking / camping you can do drastically. hike up river, float back down... camp on islands, cross rivers ect.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2022Color: ORANGE-2020Style: KayakVerified PurchaseI think this thing is great, although you will get wet using it. It works fine, and is super lightweight and small (like the size of a purse). I put my son in it while we rafted the Merced, although it does not track well and will spin in a circle, it works. Its tough and blows away any pool toy so for rivers and lakes its well worth it. After blowing it up, once you put it in the water it deflates quite a bit (prpobably due to the cold water), so stopping 5 -10 minutes later to blow more air into it is advisable, but you only need to do that one time. I pulled my son behind our boat and floats like a leaf on the water so it was very easy and kept us free of his continual splashing and thrashing around.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2023Color: ORANGE-2020Style: KayakVerified PurchaseCons: it does not track at all. It takes a lot of effort in paddling each side to go any appreciable distance. Given the drag, I would not take this on a body of water where i have to fight against the current as you will lose.
However, for a calm alpine lake, it is awesome. People were jealous. You get a little wet with paddling and entry, but if you're careful, you can stay largely very dry.
It's super light and packable. Fairly sturdy. Takes about 5-10min to inflate and not that challenging. Inflating the last part is tough b/c boat kinks so you or some kind stranger has to lay on it while inflating to fully inflate boat
- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2024Color: ORANGE-2020Style: KayakVerified PurchaseFirst the good - It is incredibly light and the fabric feels sturdy.
The Bad - It is almost impossible to inflate without a pump, which defeats the purpose of a lightweight pack boat. Once filled, the thing feels like no matter how you sit in it, the sides buckle to allow water to flow inside. If you choose to sit on the inflated seat, it feels like you are going to flip backward. To position yourself to avoid water flowing in, you are sitting in a position that doesn't allow you to reach the water with handheld paddles. I took it for a (very) short lap out into the lake and never got in it again. My daughter attempted to use it and found the same problem.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2024Color: ORANGE-2020Style: KayakVerified PurchaseThis little water raft was kind of nice, with a pleasing material and quick inflation. It packs incredibly small and is SO light also. However, with it's very low side walls and uber-flexible bottom, it was just too amorphous feeling (lacked rigidity and shape) and a fair amount of water would constantly slosh all around me. I wanted something for fall weather on cool-ish mountain lakes, and ended up returning this dinghy.
I eventually spent another $200 and purchased a generic (non Alpaca or Kokopelli) packraft from Amazon that weighs 6 lb. and packs small, (but not as small as the Klymt) and has taller sidewall tubes. It did a much better job keeping me dry on lakes and slow rivers during our October camping trip!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 17, 2015I used this for a day along the River Dee (Braemar onwards) and it was pretty good in that I managed to get down the river and kept up with the rest of the group who were in Alpacas. I weigh about 110kg (240lbs) and was riding pretty low in the water most of the time without any gear - not sure I'd like to try it with a heavy pack. I'm about 6' 3 and there's plenty of leg room and it's actually quite comfortable to sit in and paddle although any sort of wavy water will end up with you needing to bail once it flattens out again. It is a lot slower than an Alpaca and I had to paddle continuously to keep up, but it tracks pretty well. The main weakness of it is that the material is pretty flimsy and if you bottom out then you will get a puncture (as I did - luckily only on the seat so the raft itself wasn't compromised). The included puncture repair kit has sorted me out though.
On the positive side, it is incredibly light and is a tiny package when deflated, it's also very cheap compared to an Alpaca. It's a lot of fun, just be aware that you will get very wet when using it, and you need to get out as soon as it gets shallow. I'm looking forward to getting a lot more use of it in the summer.

3.0 out of 5 stars Leggero, ingombro inesistente, lento, molto lento.

5.0 out of 5 stars This thing is nice!
Color: ORANGE-2020Style: KayakVerified PurchaseUpdate: This raft is still going strong but I’m never very comfortable in it. I think you’re meant to wear a life jacket in it all the time, which I don’t. But it’s had probably twenty uses and I still like it. Eventually I’ll upgrade to a larger raft but for now this one fits the pack and the budget.
Wanted a pack raft but didn’t have over a grand for one. Along came this value priced boat. Well built and easy to inflate and use. Packs so small you almost don’t know it’s there. Used it many times and you do get a bit wet but what the heck, you’re the only one with a boat. Makes lake crossing easy. But bring a life jacket or sling. It’s stable but you never know what can happen in the middle of the water when you’re alone. Highly recommended as a starter boat while you’re saving for your larger craft.

5.0 out of 5 stars Für Wandertouren mir sanften Gewässern

5.0 out of 5 stars super Canoë
