Great hammock pad.
5 out of 5 stars
Great hammock pad.
Used the Klymit Insulated Hammock Sleeping pad on a trip to Mt. Rainier. The nights got in the low 30s. The pad definitely kept me warm. I made the mistake of using it for the first time out in the field and didn't realize that there are two openings (inlet/outlet). I ended up blowing up the pad with the open outlet....which took more work but was able to do. Also ended up putting more moisture inside the pad. I left it hanging on a door and it seems to have let all the moisture escape. The back side also has a silicone type grip on it. BE SURE to center pad in hammock before getting in. I didn't and ended up sleeping in an awkward position my first night. Made sure to recenter the pad on the second night and slept perfectly. I used my Klymit hammock and pad with ENO bug net and rain fly. This pad is a bit bigger than I expected from other Klymiy pads but that's probably because its insulated. Very pleased. Looking forward to trying pad out in colder weather.

-I'm 5'10", female, 140lbs and this fit me perfectly. Had a few inches above and below my feet, it's got a big footprint.
-Used in my Hennessy Scout Hammock along with the Hyke & Byke Eolus down bag, slept nice and comfy (nights in 50s, days in 70s/80s
-Did NOT feel a darn bit of cold or wind, even in a night with 40mph gusts down into the holler we were in on the AT

    Pros
    -Definitely insulating, super comfy
-Separate inflate and deflate holes with adjustable plastic flap seal in the inflate side so you can adjust level of inflation with your finger
-Fits great in Hennessy and all Eno hammocks
-Rubberized grips on bottom and top, the thing doesn't move! And I'm a rolly sleeper. Learning curve to making sure where you want it before you get in.
-Side flaps on a sleeping pad = best invention for hammock ever! Felt like I was in a tiny boat. Kept the air above me in place.
    -Comes with repair kit!
-Packs down enough to tightly fit in the bag it comes with, difficult to get ALL the air out (see cons)

    Cons
-Came with two slits in fabric, wouldn't stay inflated :( Third party seller so the actual company wouldn't take it back, however, Amazon customer service is great and they refunded me the money. They did not require me to ship it back because its listed as "hazardous" (maybe the glue kit?). I don't know, but for that I repaired it using the old bathtub method, repair kit comes with plenty repair fabric. Glue is hard to work with, gotta be nimble. But, I fixed it! Pretty great "free" damaged product that was easily repairable!
-Fabric is thin, definitely deflate in your hammock, no rolling out air on the ground. Wouldn't chance it. It did however withhold against accidentally packing small twigs. Twigs broke but not the fabric. Definitely keep away from children and pets with claws at home for storage.
-The V channels are great for heat distribution, but not for deflation. It took practice figuring out the best way to deflate the thing.

Helps keep my hammock opened wide and rigid, but still comfortable to lay in. The insulation is also super warm. I tested it out in my backyard and started sweating within a couple minutes. Finally got to test it out on the field in 40 degree weather and was perfectly fine, this thing is so warm I'm sure it could do 30 degrees just fine. With a proper sleeping bag/quilt, this could also do 15-20 no doubt. My hammock does not have anything to hold the pad on place, so it did slide around a bit as I adjusted, but that's my hammocks fault, not the pad. Even still, that was my best night of sleep while camping. Also, it weighs about two pounds, which is much heavier and it's also much larger than my tent sleeping pads, but it's well worth the trade off in weight and size. I was skeptical about hammock camping, but this pad has certainly changed my mind. Don't know if I'll ever use my tent again.

Awesome, I used it at 9000 ft in New Mexico on a camping trip. Kept my backside warm and only had to blow it up once. I twas approx 40-50 degrees F some mornings and what amazed me was I was camped on a side of a hill and the first night my head was way to high for my feet end. The pad moved very little. On a normal pad I would have been up 2x-3x times to reposition the pad the way I was camped. Has some sticky stuff on the back side of the pad that really works. Best bit of gear I have purchased in a whitle

I’m one of few hammock campers that prefer a pad to an underquilt. The insulated version of this pad is very warm, very comfy, and works equally as well on the ground. Setup is easier than an underquilt as well.

    Two drawbacks.

It is very heavy. I only do weekend backpacking trips, so I can deal with a few luxury items, but I certainly would not consider this pad for a long backpacking trip. I feel klymit could have trimmed a bit off the wings to make it lighter.

Also, it is quite expensive. Would never buy this pad at full retail. At full retail, you’d expect down insulation, which would also help make this pad lighter. There isn’t really a competing product on the market, but I hope other companies start to produce hammock specific pads because this thing could use some competition.

TLDR review: Great pad, minus half a star for weight and half a star for price.

Absolutely brilliant product. Worth Every pound! Give you the air gap and insulation to prevent frozen butt syndrome. Lightweight, ultra compact, and an absolute beast when inflated. Fits nicely inside hammock. The only let down for me... DEFLATION! what a chore! It is a nightmare to pack away. That aside "This is the best mat ever, great for tent and hammock" genius design with wings. Like a giant inflatable sanitary pad. Other colour options would be nice too for the expense.

    A voir cet hiver....
