Product Description

XCOM 2 is the sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the 2012 award-winning strategy game of the year.

Earth has changed. Twenty years have passed since world leaders offered an unconditional surrender to alien forces. XCOM, the planet’s last line of defense, was left decimated and scattered. Now, in XCOM 2, the aliens rule Earth, building shining cities that promise a brilliant future for humanity on the surface, while concealing a sinister agenda and eliminating all who dissent from their new order.

Only those who live at the edges of the world have a margin of freedom. Here, a force gathers once again to stand up for humanity. Always on the run, and facing impossible odds, the remnant XCOM forces must find a way to ignite a global resistance, and eliminate the alien threat once and for all.

It's fantastic. But
First, I give the actual game five stars. It's fantastic. But... my Steam key was revoked today, nearly a year and a half after purchasing it. Still haven't heard back from Steam or Amazon about how to fix this. Help!!

In XCOM enemy unknown, I beat the game and saved the world from alien domination. XCOM2 somehow altered history and I in fact didn't actually save the world after all. Yup, aliens have taken over the whole dang thing, which is great! I love the feel of mounting a resistance against an alien occupied earth on-board my mobile command ship. The game is gorgeous in 4k, and even the world is much more detailed it has much better performance than its predecessor on my upper middle of the road rig. XCOM2 adds many new elements to he game with out making it more so complicated and difficult to play. Furthermore, this game itself improves on everything that felt glossed over in the first game, without bogging you down too much with having too many choices. You will probably find you spend much more time making character customization when you aren't on mission than anything else. In XCOM2 character detail goes way deeper than before, I even named my custom sniper rifle "Widow Maker" and put smiley faces on it! The only thing I really wanted was more hat choices. My sniper would have looked so sweet if he had a top-hat option to go with his monocle (yes, monocle is an eye piece option but top hats were not included in the game). Come on 2k, how hard would it have been to include top hats, fez's, and viking helmets?

Good game, but less tactical than the original UFO Defense PC game. No fighter plane technology at all, no shooting down UFOs. Graphics are outstanding.

Like many others, I also received a duplicate X-COM2 key. Amazon told me to contact 2KGames and when I contacted 2KGames showing proof they told me they couldn't help me and I would have to talk to Amazon. I called Amazon back and thankfully they waived the nonreturn policy and gave me back my money (Amazon support was FANTASTIC! 2KGames was terrible). If you buy this game you're taking a chance with receiving a duplicate Steam code.

Let me begin with saying that this game will consume your soul...after getting absolutely DESTROYED on normal mode on the VERY FIRST MISSION, I re-evaluated my life and what it meant...This isn't xcom 1...this isn't a game that will be kind to you...it's a game that will eat your soul and spit it out, making you realize that you're pathetic and would be an awful real life field general. Like going into situations guns a blazing? Don't buy this game. Think you would "pwn" this game because you were awesome at the original xcom game? Think again. This game is really for the hardcore group that likes being angry at themselves over and over again for making one stupid move. It's brutal, punishing, gorgeous, and flat out brilliant.

If you loved any of the other XCOMs then you will love this as well. It is a very nice update on what made the originals so good. I have nothing negative to say about this product nor am I good at written reviews without video to go along with it. The only downside and maybe this is an upside is that sometimes the game has some strange bugs. One that I have faced is that half way through the enemies will stop attacking. They take their turn but don't move and you basically can just run your troops around eliminating them without worry. This issue is easily fixed but....maybe you don't want to :-).
