Engineered for performance

The 3-Stage Cleaning System uses Dual Multi-Surface brushes, a specially designed Edge-Sweeping brush, and vacuum suction to attack everything from small particles to large debris on your carpets and hard floors.

Dual Multi-Surface Brushes

The robot vacuum brand with two main cleaning brushes - one to loosen dirt and the other to pick it up. The brushes work together to grab and remove dirt, dust, hair, and large debris from your floors.

Clean debris from carpets and hard floors

The Auto-Adjust cleaning head automatically adapts is height to keep the Multi-Surface Brushes in close contact with different floor surfaces, effectively cleaning carpets and hard floors.

Dirt Detect Technology

Dirt Detect sensors recognize concentrated areas of dirt, like in high-traffic zones of your home, and provide additional cleaning in those spots.

Sweeps away debris hiding along walls

The Edge-Sweeping Brush is specially designed at a 27-degree angle to sweep debris away from edges and corners.

Intelligently navigates your home

Using a full suite of smart sensors, the Roomba robot vacuum makes more than 60 decisions per second to adapt to your home and thoroughly clean your floors. Cliff detect sensors avoid stairs and other drop-offs.

Automatically recharges itself

Roomba automatically returns to its Home Base to recharge itself after it has finished cleaning. Self-charging means Roomba is always ready to clean!

Solid basic robot vacuum for the money - and hasn't fallen to its death yet!

Solid basic robot vacuum for the money - and hasn't fallen to its death yet!
After reviewing many low-end vacuum cleaners and taking into account the performance of an ECOVACS DEEBOT that we have on our first floor, I decided to order the Roomba 614 for our upstairs area since iRobot has an amazing spare parts catalog (including even replacement batteries!) that should help this one to far outlast other entry level robot vacuums. After using it for a few months, I think this makes a great robot vacuum for an apartment, the elderly, or a family's upstairs. Think of the 614 as the iPod Shuffle of robot vacuums - it comes from the industry standard brand, but it's very basic in functionality. I think that's okay; the Roomba 614 gives up features our DEEBOT has such as a remote and a scheduling timer, but doesn't having a remote to tell the vacuum what to do and where to go defeat the purpose of it autonomously vacuuming your house? The only reason I use the DEEBOT remote is to pause it when it begins its scheduled clean and I'm on a conference call from home. Since the 614 requires you to manually click "Clean," I find no need for a remote for the Roomba. Plus, I don't mind manually clicking "Clean" because these vacuums will hit everything in their wake. You really can't use an autonomous vacuum without first picking up your house, so not having the scheduled clean means you can first tidy up and then have it vacuum the house on your terms. The simplicity of the Roomba further extends to its audible alerts, which I think makes it an excellent choice for elderly or tech-averse people. When the Roomba gets stuck, it audibly says "Error: Please move the Roomba to a new location and click clean." This tells the user exactly what to do, whereas the DEEBOT will beep like a dead fire alarm for 5 minutes until you get fed up with it and give it attention - and then you have to figure out why it was beeping in the first place. Saving the most important part for last: this Roomba does an excellent job of cleaning. Granted, we have hardwood floors, no pets, and no kids, so we are an easy use case. The 614 doesn't have the mapping technology that saves pictures of your floor plan like the more expensive models do, but it hasn't really been a problem so far. We use it about once a week, and the canister is almost always nearly full. We have a Shark upright vacuum that we use for heavier cleans, but I've found that the Shark isn't picking up much more than the 614 has already gotten. Most impressively, the edge sensing technology is phenomenal. Our entire upstairs is loft-style, and the Roomba has about 30 feet of edge to deal with where it gets perilously close to falling 12 feet (photo in review). We didn't buy the extra $60 "invisible wall" sensor, and the Roomba has been entirely successful not falling without it. Overall, the Roomba 614 is a great value as a simple, easy-to-use budget robot vacuum. I definitely prefer it over our DEEBOT, and the lack of additional features hasn't been a hindrance at all in its usability. iRobot nailed the basics such as suction, user interface, and the fantastic edge detection system, and I highly recommend it as a robot vacuum for a small home or upstairs. NOTE: The only issue I had with the Roomba 614 is with our IKEA Poang chair. The rear of the Poang chair is low enough that the Roomba cannot detect it, yet it's high enough that the Roomba would get stuck multiple times during a cleaning. If you have a Poang chair and are interested in this vacuum, I recommend putting the Poang chair on felt non-slip furniture pads (photo in review). Raising the Poang 1/8" has prevented the Roomba from getting stuck anymore, and the $3 furniture pads are much cheaper than buying a $60 Roomba "invisible wall" for a $60 chair.

We have a 950 sq ft home and with 3 adults, 3 long haired dogs and 2 cats fur is a constant never ending issue for us. I have some mobility problems and vacuuming daily is not an option. I had a robot vacuum years ago and didn’t keep it because it wasn’t a good model and frankly I was unaware that there is constant work needed to keep a robot vac running well.

I decided to try one more time and am so glad I did. This tiny vacuum does a great job for us. It picks up so much fur and dirt it’s amazing.

    Pros-
Picks up a ton of fur and filth
Runs itself until battery is low then docks to recharge
    Is simple to use
Parts that get clogged with fur (yes, if you have pets, it WILL get clogged up) are easy to dissemble to remove fur clumps
Filter is easy to remove and clean. I use canned air out on the back porch, takes under a minute

    Cons-
Loudness is similar to a regular vacuum, if running it while home it can be annoying

Thats the only con I can come up with. It needs frequent cleaning but thats not really a con to me, my upright vacuum needs to have its rollers cleared after every use too.

We use baby gates to keep our dogs on one side of the house when we’re not home, so I like to turn it on when I’m leaving in the morning and it can rip around the family room & kitchen unmolested by the dogs. Then in the evening I put the baby gate back up and let it rip in the hallway & bedrooms.

I used this w/o using my upright vacuum for a couple weeks and while it did a great job on the main areas of the floors and rugs, I noticed a lot of tumbleweeds of fur collected in corners where the roomba couldn’t reach it, also on the heat vent returns, this is why I say it can’t replace a regular vacuum being used at least weekly imo. But I have a collie, a sheltie and a long haired doxie so yeah, fur is a thing in my house.

It runs around like a drunken sailor and gives me fits when I’m home to see it, I’m always sure it won’t get all the dirt & fur up but eventually it does. I think confining it to smaller areas helps too. Sometimes I close it up in a room and it cleans it so well. It has crawled up walls a little before and gotten stuck a few times but surprisingly not very often. If I’m home while it’s running I always empty the dirt tray after 30 minutes or so. When it runs and nobody is home, the tray is FULL when I empty it. Also, when I run it using a baby gate it often can’t find the dock, not sure why but I just carry it over to the dock. Which reminds me of one thing I wish it had-a study carrying handle would be so nice. I carry it to the dock and to the kitchen to clean the rollers etc and would like it a lot more if I didn’t have to awkwardly lug it around.

I highly recommend this roomba model, it’s made my housekeeping a lot easier.

Edit to add that one day I realized that there is a built in handle! Boy did I feel dumb when I realized it was there lol. Anyway it’s still working great and carrying it to the kitchen to empty the dust bin is much easier now that I use the handle.

This thing is amazing. We have spots in our house where the floors aren't the same height (about 1/2 difference as the floor type transitions) and this goes in between rooms like a champ, and was even able to clean along the transition strip. We have two dogs and three cats, so obviously lots of dust and dander - the Roomba 614 does a better job cleaning up than my upright vac. This came with two filters, so when one finally got too clogged up, we were able to rinse and dry it but still use the Roomba.

Because I'm still in the honeymoon phase with this device, I enjoy moving the couches and letting it clean the floor, and there's a big difference between where Roomba has been and where it hasn't. This gets under the sleigh bed to do the area rug (a chore that is semi-annual or annual, because it involves removing the mattress and box spring to get underneath) and goes right under the coffee table. It travels between wood, linoleum, and rug with no issues. The height is perfect for going underneath the edge of the cabinets in the kitchen as well. I got a good laugh today when the Roomba had shoved a laundry basket out of the way to get into a room, so make sure if you're trying to block it somewhere that you use heavy enough items.

A couple of minor down-sides that (for me) don't detract from the awesomeness: My device has some battle scars from attempting to go under (and escaping) furniture that isn't tall enough for it to get under, so it's smart but not QUITE that smart. Pick up cords, shoes with laces, and socks before running the Roomba. It will eventually shut off and give you an error code if it picks something like a cord (my phone charger), but if it picks up a sock it will just keep going and bang itself on the floor as it goes. There's no alarm or warning when the cup is full, so we just periodically check the cup and empty as needed. The little gizmo that is supposed to send a signal to the Roomba to keep it in or away from certain areas either doesn't work or it's more complicated than turning it on and setting it somewhere.

ETA: So after more time with the Roomba, I seem to have figured out the gizmo that tells it to not go into certain areas, which I have blocking a particular piece of furniture that the Roomba insists it can - in fact - fit under and gets stuck and cries for help 100% of the time.

I think the ONE thing I didn't cover in my original review is the noise - it's louder than a computer fan but much quieter than a regular vacuum cleaner. None of my animals are concerned in the slightest with the noise. This thing is made better by the constant amusement of it treating the dog like a wall and cleaning around him when he refuses to move. After having this for a while, still gets a 5 star review and I still highly recommend it. One downside is that the refurbishment kit (new brushes and filters) only seem to be available on iRobot, and the ones sold here are probably imitation.

It's early days, received a week ago. Quick arrival, packaged well (in fact, over-packaged - vacuum in it's own box, with thick egg carton packaging, then another thick cardboard box, then another thick cardboard box). No assembly, easy instructions. My situation - retired, live alone, some back problems, arthritic hands, and with small non-shedding dog, 1600 sq ft open plan home. Vinyl wood-look floors (not smooth, there's a 'faux' grain to the vinyl) laid on slab. No carpet, a few small rugs. Although it worked well on the vinyl, transitioning onto the rugs no problem, it runs REALLY LOUD to me. Disturbing during day, I know I couldn't run it at night. However, I found a perfect use for it on the large screened porch I have, which is a sort of rough finished concrete slab. This slab is impossible to clean for me, the cordless vac I have just wouldn't work. Little bugs, beetles, grass clippings, pieces of mulch, dead worms, somehow appear overnight, even tho screening in good shape. And of course, pollen - which just turns to a pasty mess with the humidity. Anyway, this little robo vac got it all up. I have a woven plastic Mat Mat on the porch, no problem, it now looks like it just came out of box. The entire slab looks almost like it was just poured. There's lots of corners, since the fireplace juts out. For me, it was worth the price, even tho in my situation, I won't use it in the house. It's made the porch so much more inviting, like I've gained some extra living space. Probably will have to change filter frequently, especially in summer. I can barely hear it running, but with the patio doors closed, it's not bad at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works WAY better than my conventional vacuum (which is admittedly pretty old)
Reviewed in Canada on February 6, 2017
    Style: Robot VacuumVerified Purchase
Why didn't I buy this earlier?

Works WAY better than my conventional vacuum (which is admittedly pretty old). Apartment has never been cleaner, and I vacuum way more often since it is basically hands off. I just fire up ol' Roomba and then start picking things up off the ground and moving furniture out of the way.

You can buy the fancy laser walls, but I don't really see the need. They may be handy if you have a huge area to do that is fairly open. For me though, I just toss a couple of pillows or whatnot down across a doorway, hall, or other area, and create a simple barrier to keep Roomba where I want it.

Cleaning is easy enough, and the battery life is definitely quite good. I have a ~900 sf apartment, but the layout is quite constrictive and thus I can't trust Roomba to make it everywhere very efficiently without some guidance. I tend to split the job in 2 or 3. The battery has never run out. One time, for fun, I turned it loose with no barriers and most of the doors open and left for 40 minutes. I came home and it was still going, so I hit the "dock" button and left again. When I got home later, the Roomba had indeed found its way back. Basically it has to randomly drive near the docking station and then senses it and begins to drive in and dock itself. Usually I'll just pick it up when I think it's done enough, clean / empty it, then put it down in front of the dock station and tell it to dock.

The extra features of programming for when you are away would be nice, but I find I have to (or at least prefer) to move stuff out of the way for the Rooomba to do the optimal job anyway, so it's not really required.

Super happy with it 2 months in. Hope it lasts a long time

Excelente producto.
