[ i did NOT receive this book at any discount nor did i get it for free. i paid full price for this item. my opinion is that of my own. i was not influenced by anyone in any way. My grand daughter is just a few months over eight years old. When I pick her up or take her home, we have a 4 hrs drive round trip and she is always telling me jokes. While looking for books for her to read, I came across this one, so I thought it would keep her busy, she went thru it during our trip from picking her up. She seems to like it, but we will see as time goes. Some of the jokes she didn't get, but most she did. It's a nice book to pass time when traveling.

    Good humor is a valuable commodity. Let me re-phrase that. Good clean humor is a valuable commodity. Clean humor is not as easy to find as you might think. Much of the humor of the past three or so decades is based on making fun of someone else or of other ideas. It capitalizes on someone's mistakes. It belittles and minimizes someone else's worth. To find good humor means leaving that base in the dust and finding things that are truly funny at no one else's expense. Even the definition of clean has variations and shades of meaning.

    As a parent, when my children were young, I didn't want them to think that devaluing someone else was funny. Slapstick was fine, as well as play on words and incongruities. We loved all things animal humor. Those were our standards. This book contains a similar standard. It is written for young children, perhaps from 6-10 years. The content is squeaky clean. Many of the jokes date back to my childhood years with a few new ones sprinkled here and there. There are 126 pages of fun.

    It is divided by chapters by categories:

    Chapter 1: Questions and Answers
    Chapter 2: Awesome Animal Jokes
    Chapter 3: Knock Knock Jokes
    Chapter 4: Tongue Twisters
    Chapter 5: Some Things to Think About

    One of the Question and Answers I've never heard before goes like this:

    Question: What did the alien say to the flower bed?
    Answer: Take me to your weeder.

    Here's one from Chapter 2 I haven't heard before:

    Question: Where do bees come from?
    Answer: Stingapore and Beelivia

    Do knock knock jokes make you groan?

    "Knock, knock!"
    "Who's There?"
    "Everest"
    "Everest, who?"
    "Do we Everest from telling knock knock jokes?"

    One parting shot:

    "If a fly didn't have wings, would we call it a walk?"

    Now, I found this is just one book in a collection. There are many more books just like this one. They came out with a new one in 2014 if you are looking for more. I recommend this to anyone who wants pure and simple humor for their children.

    I only breezed through a few pages since this is a Christmas gift and didn’t want to distort the book cover. The ones that I read are more like Dad jokes. One referred to Darth Vader, not sure kids will understand the reference.

    I would like to give a shout out to the driver that delivered it. He went over and above in the delivery. I have a note on my account to please knock loudly upon delivery. I live across the street from a busy Dollar Store and my front porch is open for all to see. If the driver doesn’t knock, I don’t know its there. This driver not only knocked, he handed me the package and wished me a Merry Christmas to boot. We actually had a very nice conversation. He is a breath of fresh air and I hope someone in management takes notice!

    If you have a kid who is aspiring to be a comedian, or who at least enjoys telling a good joke, the Laugh Out Loud Jokes for Kids book is a great book to get. This book has 126 pages of jokes, including Q&A jokes, animal jokes, knock knock jokes, tongue twisters, and "some things to think about". The smallest sections of the book are the tongue twisters and "things to think about" - there were only three pages of twisters and things, and I was pretty happy about that since those sections were undoubtedly the weakest parts of the book. One thing I wish was that there was more "punchline story jokes" in this book. There was only one story joke in the entire book (A duck walks into a store and asks "do you sell any grapes?"...) and it was quite possibly the best joke in the entire book, particularly if your kid delivers it well. That said, the rest of the jokes are total cornball fun, and it was great to hear the kids laughing and later telling me the great jokes they've learned. One thing to note is that there are no images in the book so you're getting pages of just pure jokes - this may be a turnoff for some kids, but our kids loved the format and sheer number of jokes. Overall, this book was well worth the purchase and has earned its spot on our kid comedian's shelf.
