This is one of Scientific Explorer's better quality science kits. It takes a playful wizard approach to looking at acid/base neutralizations, density and using red cabbage juice powder as an acid/base indicator. This kit includes everything you need except scissors and tape to make the magic hat. The wizard wand is super cool and easy to make. My daughter was totally "wowed" by how the tiny polymer beads expanded and filled up the wand. The magic hat is a simple purple paper hat that you cut out and attach star stickers to. There are 9 activities in total to do. All of the lab experiments worked out like they were supposed to for us. Directions were easy and clear. At the bottom of each experiment page, an easy to understand scientific explanation is given. What a fun set--and so perfectly packaged.
I figured this was going to be a lot of "add vinegar to baking soda and watch the magic happen!" And though, yes, baking soda and vinegar play major roles in this set, there is definitely other fun stuff happening in the kit, too. I've attached pictures of a few of the experiment directions, so you can see some of the things you can do. Even though most of the experiments call for basic household ingredients, packaging goes a long way here. The kit comes with everything you need, and all of it comes in cute little pouches or bottles. You also get four big test tubes with a stand, two mini scoopers, and a plastic wand. I know it sounds crazy, but the scoopers and tubes genuinely make these common cooking ingredients feel more like legit "experiment components." Seriously, the presentation of this kit is perfect. My kids are excited to do each experiment (we've only done about half of them so far). I think making the crystals for the inside of the plastic wand has been their favorite, even though it required A LOT of wait time. But the kids are genuinely excited to see what will happen when we add this to that or drop in this color tablet after the last color tablet. They are engaged and excited (and occupied). Honestly, this set pretty much blew my expectations out of the water. It's been a real hit.

With my son newly turning 5 and loving to experiment at home with items found in my kitchen I figured it was time to pass down his learning resource introduction kit to his younger brother and upgrade him to a much cooler science kit! I feel in love with the variations of the brand and how much they each included and the hours of play and extermination a child could have. In receiving the product I was not disappointed the item included all that was listed, was compacted, and encouraged learning through play which is huge in our household. Additionally, with the vast difference in categories offered by the company you are sure to find one if not all appropriate for your child; I loved them all for my son. In opening the kit to check in out before Christmas I had to recommend it to my mothers group and close friends as all kids should have the amount of fun this educational kit will allow. I highly recommend purchasing this kit as it seems far superior in what it contains in comparison to other products.
