- Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2021I prefer this mini crockpot to heat up soup, chili, Ramen, 100% better than a microwave or having the mess of cooking on a stove. It evenly heats up your food, something the microwave can't do, and that slow, thorough heating improves the taste of the food.
Yes, it makes a fine pot of Ramen. Just break up the dry noodles into the pot, sprinkle in the seasoning packet and add water to the fill line. Plug it in and in an hour you'll have perfectly made, thoroughly heated Ramen and the noodles will not be mushy. You're welcome.
That said, I don't recommend it for reheating leftover noodles or rice. In my experience those do become mushy. But it does fine with dry noodles like Ramen. But for canned soup that has noodles in it, like chicken noodle soup - it does great.
I love that a can of soup fits perfectly in it. Pop open the can of soup, pour it in, close up the crock with both the inner and outer lid on and plug it in. It will be hot and ready to eat in about an hour.
Pro tip: you can order multiple inserts with lids directly from the Crock Pot company and just transport those instead of the whole crock pot back and forth between work and home. I found that securing the lids with a thick rubber band or two kept them from leaking while being transported to work.
Before pandemic: I took my mini crockpot to work and left it there at my desk. I brought in cans of soup and packets of Ramen that I kept in my desk to heat up whenever I wanted to have that for lunch. I either washed the insert and inner lid at work, or took it home to wash and just brought it back to work with me, sometimes filled with leftovers that I just popped into the mini crock and plugged in once I got to work. I personally found that if I turned it on to start heating up food at 8am or 11am, that food would be heated to the same ready-to-eat temp by lunch time and I never had any problems with it overheating anything.
And if I wanted to use it to heat up something homemade, I'd fill up one of my extra inserts kept at home and take just that to work (with rubber bands over it to keep it closed) and pop it into the mini crock pot once I got to work. I'd pop out the insert already in there, pop in the one I brought from home, and then when I was done with lunch, I'd put the clean one back in and put it away for the day. I'd take back home the one I'd brought in.
During pandemic: I took my mini crockpot home and have continued using it because I prefer the taste of evenly heated soups and Ramen cooked in it instead of the microwave. And now the one that I had just died and I'm immediately ordering a new one. I got A LOT of use out of the old one and I consider the price a good deal.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2013I don't know about your office, but in mine, lunch time heralds gladiatorial microwave games, where various office weenies (myself included) sneak, connive, deceive and hoodwink each other in order to get to the cheap, off-brand nukerator before it overheats from overuse and shuts off for however long it thinks it needs to cool down. While I'm all in favor of not having office fires, it's still frustrating when you've put off lunch just a wee bit longer than you should have, and are now thinking about gnawing your arm off, or maybe your cube-farm neighbor if you've still got a lot of mousing and typing to do, in order to make it 5-Hour Energy time, and then...the microwave sits there, slightly deader than...well...dead.
Da-da-da-da! In the near corner...weighing in at 20 oz., plus heating container weight, wearing bright pink trunks...er...lid and handle...a stainless steel inner container...a kinda short cord with a great storage reel...THE LUNCH CROCK!
Seriously, though, this little thing is pretty awesome. You show up, plop this puppy down on the counter near the nuker, put the inner container in the heating well (with the lid still on) and plug it in. Then, just cruise through your day, knowing your lunch will be hot and delicious when you're ready to eat, regardless of whether you're the Christian or the lion in the Office Lunch Coliseum Games.
The grey inner lid fits pretty well, so your lunch won't slop all over your bag (unless you're taking a rollercoaster to work, or something) but it will pop up during heating so the steam can escape. Getting the inner container out of the heating well takes a fork, and some paper towels or a potholder, but it's not crazy-hard, and the best part is that everything is heated evenly and it's not dried out. For example, I plugged my LUNCH CROCK in at 0745 when I got to work, and decided to get a jump on lunch, so I pulled the plug around 1145, and my pork loin and mashed 'taters were piping hot and still moist and delicious. You can order extra inner containers from Crock-Pot, so if you're uber-lazy like me, and want to just toss the metal bowls in the dishwasher and grab a new one, that's totally doable, too.
Anyway, the Hubby and I both have one, and so far, they're a knock-out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly suprised
I bought this for use at work during the fall and winter months. I am very happy with this little unit. I use it for soups and stews mainly. Nothing like a hot soup at work on cold day when working at your desk.
Food is Hot.
There is No external heat coming off it
The internal flap does lift off a bit to vent steam when it is hot but outside the unit you would never know.
No smells escape.
I accidently for got it one day and left it on. I was so worried but it was fine. The food was a bit overheated but nothing untoward happened.
The stainless liner and lid I bring home, wash and take it to work the next day, place my soup or whatever inside, pop liner kid down, screw outer lid on and turn it on. At lunch, it is hot and ready, give it a stir and eat. Watch your tongue. It is HOT.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this little pot!
I love this little pot! I am trying to avoid using the microwave so this is perfect. I plugged it in for about an hour to an hour and half depending on my lunch. It is the perfect size and very convenient to transport back and forth as it fits perfectly in my lunch bag. All the women at work got one! They thank me for this great idea 😊
My only recommendation is to be careful when handling as it will make your food really hot! Ah!!! This pot is not for cooking!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Solution for a Hot Lunch
Good solution to the problem of not being to access microwaves at work due to the pandemic. The warmer is easy to clean and portable. The inner container is of a good size if you like to portion-control your food, but a larger device may be more suitable for someone, who requires more food during the day. The drawback is that I need to plug the device in the minute I get to work in the morning for my 12:30 lunch to ensure that my food will heat to the desired temperature. The upside is that you cannot burn your food as this device is not a "cooker". Overall, it is a good solution and a good purchase for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!
This unit is perfect for heating up lunch in my office. The metal insert heats food quickly and is easy to clean, with a plastic lid for transporting cold food. My only dislike is the pull tab on the plastic lid - it needs to be bigger/longer.
