Great product

Great product
Excellent knife. Item arrives in perfect condition. Well packaged. Its very sharp, and has such precise cut. My old stainless steel knife was used 1 year and become so dull to the point I have to sharpen it before each use. Hopefully this will last much longer and doesn't require frequent sharpening

I rarely write reviews, usually it is for things that I really dont like, but this is not the case. I am writing a review about this knife because at the time of purchase I was a bit skeptical about a Chinese chef's knife with no genuine user review, simply because it seemed to me like most of them were for a "free item for a review" kind of reviews so I didnt know if it was fair to trust them.
I bought this knife for myself, while I cook a lot for my family at home, I never really had an expensive set of knives, so this is my first actual chef's knife. I really like it a lot. To start of, the blade is razor sharp out of the box, I tried that cheesy blade test where you slice a piece of paper with the blade in mid-air and it absolutely what I expected, slices through like butter. The Damascus steel is fantastic, the design that forms on the blade makes it very interesting to look at. It is a forged knife and it feels great in the hand. In my opinion the weight is perfectly distributed and it feels very solid.
The only thing that I didn't like about this knife is the handle. It is plastic and even though it is pretty good feel and shape, it looks cheap, especially with the design circle in the middle. I will definitely get used to it, but initially the handle is what caught my attentions. Although it absolutely has no affect on the knife's performance and feel, it doesn't go well with such beautiful well made blade.

    Edit: 04/13/2019
The knife is still as solid and useful as it was on the day I got it. Requires occasional sharpening, but I use it daily, for just about anything. The only thing that happened with it, the very top of the blade, approx. 3/16ths snapped off during my attempt to carve into frozen chicken, other than that I'm very satisfied.

Initially I was concerned selecting this knife since I had experience ordering a few knives somewhere else and having to return them. Additional cause of concern was seeing positive reviews, but all of them from subsidized purchases - never trusted them. Now that I got the knife, I have to say that it is every bit as good out of the box as the other two competing brands here on Amazon. I actually own various knifes from all 3 of those brands and had a chance to compare them side by side.

Good balance, sharp out of the box and well finished one. Personally, I would prefer a bit shorter blade, but that is a matter of individual preferences...

Let's see how the edge is going to hold over time.

This is an extremely cheap knife, made in China and is more of a novelty knife than chefs knife. Ordered it because of the reviews, however, upon delivery I could instantly tell the quality of this knife was poor. The metal is cheap looking, the logo on the handle is already coming off, there is a chink in the blade by the handle. I'm a chef who graduated from culinary school, stay away from this knife.

Beautiful knife, great price compared to knives that look identical to it, and i mean identical in every way, which leads me to believe that the Bruntmor TOKUSO is possibly a re-branded knife from the defect line of the more expensive brand. I don't actually know that, but based on the fact the design is 100% identical to the other brand minus the stamp on the blade, its not a big leap to come to that conclusion. Whether that is the case or not, the price is decent for what your getting. The craftsmanship and balance are great, the edge holds well, its a good knife. There is some oddities in the rose layers, little circles that bulge out and look like the kind of thing that would relegate the knife to a defect pile. Cant think of any reason those circular bulges which are roughly an inch from the blade edge would ever create an issue so they have minimal effect on my 3 star rating. What they did, if my defect theory is correct, is take a knife i was going to pay $160 for cost $70 and I'm down with the flaws and missing brand stamp for the $90 discount. I would recommend this knife to any chef in need of Japanese steel, and i already have multiple times.

Important note: always dry your blade when you wash it, like other knifes i have, the strip of the blade along the sharp edge is not rust proof, in the sharpening and honing of the blade it removes whatever protection is on the remainder of the blade and it is susceptible to rust, so dry your blade before you're done using it, be kind to your investment.

Got the Bruntmore TOKUSO knife quickly. It comes in a sturdy box which so far i keep it in. It was much sharper then the sharpest knife I have use before. This is the first professional chefs knife I ever bought. I had a Calphelon knife before which kept an edge better than most but was damaged by improper care.. I have not had to sharpen the Bruntmor TOKUSO yet, I have had it for about 4 days and used it 5 times.. I expect it to take a while before it needs sharpening and take on a new edge easily. But I can report on that when it needs sharpening.

I almost gave it 5 start but I haven't used it long enough. Nice presentation. Well packed. Feels good in my hand except that it could use a little more grip for bigger hands. Let's see how long it takes for the blade to loose the sharp edge. Very good craftsmanship.

I am a chef, have been cooking since my early teens. i have quite a few different knives (my first set was the mid level Mercer "culinary" set) over the years ive bought a few of the nicer Wustoff knives, as well as a Shun VG0008 Blue Steel 10-Inch Kiritsuke Knife and a few others. i use this knife now for more work then any others in my arsenal. For a knife that costs less then $100 (and all the other chefs i work around agree) this is a STEEL! (get it?) The edges on this knife do not hold as well as my blue steel, but barely a tuch on my honing rods and this knife comes right back to life. I would and have recommended this knife to several of not only my friends and family, but my peers. love this knife.
