Thanks to Euro 2016, and Prime Day this Beauty is Mine
I bought this Hisense TV set during the $299 Prime Day sale. It was the only item I targeted, since I had been wanting a 4K/UHD set since I saw a demonstration at Best Buy (albeit, that was a Samsung). I've never owned a Samsung/LG television set, which are popularly believed to be the elite of modern electronics, but I personally have had no luck with Samsung items, and thus was willing to give this a shot. As an aside, I had never heard of Hisense before Euro 2016, where it was featured interminably on the stadia sidelines. I confess the advertising worked with me. I carefully read the reviews on this site and others, plus saw countless YouTube videos just to see the pros-cons of owning a lesser known brand. What I read/saw reflected well in terms of cost-benefit, so I decided to pull the trigger on Prime Day. Shipping took forever, fully 2 weeks, and I got antsy because the set would arrive well after the Olympics. Nevertheless, the day before the Olympics, UPS delivered the set and I unboxed it carefully. Would it arrive with the screen smashed, as had so many others? Would it have problems turning on, as complaints said? Would it be underwhelming as to colour palette? I'm happy to report that NONE of this happened. What I got was a stunningly sleek set, which is wider than my previous '43 Magnavox. There's a shiny black quality to it that makes the screen pop, and an elegant silver bezel underneath, which has Hisense discreetly written in the middle. Modern electronics should take a page from Apple and always aim to be pleasing to the eye, with a touch of class, and this Hisense was perfect in that regard. I had prepared for the 4K set by upping my Netflix subscription to include 4K, as well as buying an extra FireTV, to hook up to it. What is important for anyone to know is that you need an HDMI cable (sold separately) that is 4K/UHD/ARC/HDMI 2.0 compliant. ESPECIALLY the latter, HDMI 2.0. The two slots in the back which you will use for your 4K-capable gadgets (like the FireTV) will require it. After much trial-and-error, I chanced on one which cost a mere 6.99, and which produced a mouth-watering picture. If it helps you, it's the Zeskit Cinema Series HDMI cable, 6.5 ft. I had tried more expensive ones, and cheap ones like Amazon's own brand, without the same quality. Next, came the setup. The YouTube videos have helpful hints about taking Overscan out, to cancel that Soap Opera look, so I suggest you check those out in case you don't have a calibration BD/DVD (I don't). I love vibrant colours, so I chose Sports, but honestly, it's true that Theatre gives you richer blacks, and allows you to see the details much better. It's just a question of taste, but with such a powerful 4K set, err on the side of details. Then just tinker with the other settings. Each time you do choose a setting that reduces or increases tint etc, make sure you check if other settings haven't been altered. It has a memory for settings, so you will have to do them for each of the HDMI/cable/Antenna inputs. And those inputs can be changed for easier reference (for eg, I changed HDMI 1 to Fire TV, etc). A very helpful feature this. Lastly, I went to YouTube and checked out the free 4K Ultra HD content there. I chose one which was a walk in the woods, and the picture of it, the details, colour saturation, made me feel like I was in the woods myself. Maybe others used to this are jaded and you won't have my newbie wow-reaction, but I was in heaven with this Hisense TV from word "Go". The Olympics started the next day, and I saw all 17 days in gorgeous crisp detail using the NBC App on the FireTV. Although being a smart TV, this does have an App Store (by Opera, same as the browser of the same name), and though I did set up Netflix there, I have rarely used it. Netflix worked beautifully when I did though. Are there any negatives? I can only think of the legs which I had difficulty screwing in. They feel wobbly to me, but certainly haven't tipped the set over or anything. Possibly it was due to lack of being handy on my part, so I will give it a pass and address it later. I know as a consumer there are better 4K sets out there. And that Hisense, despite having been around a while, is hardly a household name. But if you're on a budget, or you find spending hundreds on electronics which are obsolete in 2-3 years (been there, done that, got the 800 dollar iPad 1 to show for it), absolutely nonsensical, then this Hisense is perfect for you...and me!

I'm an average guy who doesn't really know much about TV specs and had to rely on the very awesome Amazon Community and their reviews before I made my purchase.

First off, DO NOT BUY, if your looking for a strong 4K TV. Compared to the 4K capabilities of the bigger named brand/more expensive TV ($1000+) then you will be a bit disappointed, but not much. Do not get me wrong I still love it especially for it's price.

I upgraded from a 32" Samsung 1080p Smart TV which I mainly used for gaming and I really do see a big difference. The colors are richer, more vibrant, and the details seem sharper as well. Also the sound on this TV is great!!! I've also been watching movies and after tweaking with the settings I got the perfect picture to my liking! Overall the picture quality on this thing has met my expectations but not surpassed them. It's a really sweet TV but if you have the cash to get the bigger name TV I suggest you go for it.

Now on to the app store. I browsed through it a bit and didn't seem to see anything worth downloading. The main things I wanted are already pre-installed and what's really cool is that they have their own buttons on the remote! Netflix, Amazon Video, Vudu, and YouTube. I wish Hulu would have been included but that's why I pre-ordered the Fire Stick!

Pretty much for the price you can't beat the quality but if you're actually wanting the rich 4K image you see on display on brand names like Samsung or Sony then you might want to splurge the cash IF you have it and go with that. This is my first 4K and I'm really happy with it and know for a fact that I want a Samsung for my living room!

My TV arrived in great shape. I received it Friday the 19th. The initial viewing was somewhat disappointing as my four year old cable box and router did not/would not connect through HDMI and Friday night I had to resort to the old coaxial cable line and I will admit there was buyer's remorse and a sinking disappointment. I've since received new cable provider router and HD box. Some of the reviews made me start to regret my purchase, what with negatives such as "motion blur, soap opera effect, poor contrast, bad color," and so forth. Let me say this: Once the TV was connected to the new HD cable equipment the picture is simply unbelievable!!!!!! This thing amazes! Tonight while watching Downton Abbey, I was simply blown away by the quality of the picture as delivered via cable from PBS. The finest detail of texture was vividly displayed; the subtlest nuance in lighting was as clear as crystal. I seemed to be sitting in the library at Highclere Castle! The images gave me goosebumps.

Ive watched hockey, basketball, rugby, and track and field and there is no "motion blur" or "ghosting" to be seen. The color is sumptuous and dazzling in it's richness. Blacks are deep and show all shades therein. I have no complaints about the quality of the image. This is what I wanted in a TV and this is what is delivered. 4K videos on YouTube are astounding! They pop and the details are dizzying and clear and look just like the ones on the demo units in the retail stores! Setup is simple and the remote while, spartan, is easy to navigate and use. The digital sound comes through my 5.1 channel receiver via optical cable rich and full.

I'm still playing with the smart features and will report on them in due time. For $999.00 the 65 inch was simply criminal. I love my TV!
      Thanks Amazon!
