Greatly improved sound over the cruddy speakers on the TV. The sound easily fills a large living room. For the price this is a good purchase. I'm sure that a true audiophile would find flaws, but you have to spend some real money for perfection.
This was easy to install and plays well with all of the components connected to the TV.
I connected the soundbar to TV's Optical Audio Out and disabled the TV internal speakers. This way when changing INPUT on the TV, the sound bar automatically plays what is showing on the TV.
I was able to program the DirecTV remote to control volume through this soundbar. There are two step for this:
1. Program AV1 or AV2 to this soundbar following the steps in the DirecTV MENU -> Settings -> Remote Control. Once you can control the soundbar with the selector on AV1, you can lock the Volume Control to this input by following the next steps
2. Override the "TV" volume control by locking Volume to AV1 (or AV2)
a. Slide the MODE switch to the AV1, (or AV2) position
b. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys until the green light under the selected switch flashes twice and
release both keys.
c. Using the number keys, enter 9-9-3. (The green light flashes twice.)
d. Press and release the SELECT key. (The green light flashes twice.)
