The Cinetic didn't suck up our dog hair.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2017My wife wanted a Dyson Animal vacuum cleaner. We had never owned a Dyson of any type, and we didn't want to spend a large amount to try one. We purchased this Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal Vacuum in October of 2016, and, unlike a number of other purchasers, we've had no problems with it. It appeared to be new, and it has had plenty of use without failing in any way. We do use the wand periodically. My wife recently felt that it would be good to purchase the Home Cleaning Kit. When I searched for it, the Model Numbers seemed to be a problem since I could not locate a model number on the unit. It does have a serial number behind the canister. I called Dyson, and they refer to it as a UP14 vacuum. I asked whether the Home Cleaning Kit will fit this vacuum, and she said absolutely. I now will order one for her.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 20, 2016The vacuum works very well as expected (great suction, easy maneuverability) and I like the no-filter design, but the unit is a heavy overall; the plastic creaks a bit when the vacuum is picked up by the handle.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2016I really wanted to love this thing. Because, i't's Dyson, right? And everyone loves the ball, right? And it's an animal version so it should be great for a house with a hairy dog, right? Sadly, NO. I don't love the ball and still haven't completely adjusted to how you push/pull the ball vacuum. I get the idea but old habits die hard. And one thing I really do NOT understand is why an animal vacuum has such a small canister. I have to empty it each day. (We have a lab mix, yes, he sheds a fair amount so that's why we got an animal verison) I really had expected a better capacity. Also, there is a ridge on the inside filter in the canister that makes it hard to empty the canister. The debris doesn't fall out when you open the bottom hatch on the canister, or even shake it a little like my old Dyson. You literally have to shove your fingers in and pull the fur and dust out that gets stuck on the ledge inside. Yuck. Also, the cleaning extension and tools feel much flimsier than my old Dyson. So, I pretty much hate it but I'm stuck with it.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2016LOVE LOVE! First time Dyson owner and I wondered why I waited so long to make this investment. Thank god I was finally able to find the right price to own one. Even though this is certified refurbished it definitely works just like new! It has done wonders on our carpets and being that we own a pet, well it has worked wonders for all the pet hair. It swivels very easily and the chord is quite long which works for our 3 story home. If you are timid on the price tag for a Dyson...refurbished is the way to go!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2017Like many users writing reviews about this product, I am a longtime owner of Dyson products and have thoroughly enjoyed nearly all my experiences with those products. I started by purchasing a vacuum several years ago for my mother and she loved it because of how powerful the suction was and how well it picked up dog hair. This was essential because, although only two beagles lived in the house, they shed like 15 collies are walking around.
Fast forward to August 17, 2016 and I get an email from Amazon.com telling me that a certified refurbished Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal Vacuum is being sold for $199.99 and I immediately went to the page, looked at the information, and purchased the vacuum. I was shocked at the low cost of it but knew that it was an Amazon.com Deal of the Day so I needed to take advantage of it.
Day 1 - I open the packaging and immediately notice that it feels different than the previous Dyson vacuum I was accustomed to handling. The parts moved slightly differently and everything seemed to be made of cheaper plastic. I turned it on and vacuumed the entire house and it operated wonderfully. Since I vacuum once every five days or so it is important to me that this work on a regular basis.
Day 30 - Everything is still working well although I do still have reservations about how the product feels when I move it. It still feels cheaper than the last model.
Day 60 - I can tell that it is not operating the same as it did when I first got it. I have used it 10+ times now and it just lacks the power that it did before so it took a little while longer to vacuum everything.
Day 90 - Not only is it not as powerful as it was before but now the dog hair and dirt is getting caught in the container where I am unable to reach it without a long screwdriver or something similar. This is frustrating because I have to stop after each room and empty it using that method even though it is not close to being filled. When the hair gets caught in the top of the container, the vacuum loses nearly all suction so I need to stop regularly.
Day 120 - Same issues as Day 90. Now the hair piles up in clumps and sticks to the filter at the top of the container. No matter what I try I cannot get it all off so the filter area is partially blocked at all times by dirt and hair built up.
Day 180 - That would be roughly today. I cleaned it out as much as I could and more than usual because I wanted to do an entire sweep of the house and get everything I could. It is nearly time for spring cleaning as the weather is getting nicer. After three rooms and dumping the canister six times, the vacuum stops suctioning, takes on a very loud screeching noise, then settles back into a very low power suction and eventually stops entirely. There is nothing immediately obvious as I check over the vacuum and I looked online at YouTube tutorials on where to look to see why the vacuum is not working.
And now here I am writing this review. I am going to pick up the Animal 2 and try it out before I purchase it to see how it goes. Perhaps it was because I purchased the reburbished product but I would think it would still last longer than 6 months. I hope those of you who purchase this same Dyson vacuum has a better experience than I did.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2016Didn't come in the original manufactures box. It wasn't stated in the description. Overall satisfied with the vacuum.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 2016This thing works great. This is the third or fourth refurbished Dyson that I have purchased. They are newly packaged and 100% clean with no scratches. Not sure why anyone would buy new. I could not tell that this had been used before.
The vacuum is a beast. Larger ball than my other Dyson's. Plenty of power and has the long cord. Nothing not to love about this vacuum.
I purchased via Amazon at just over $200 but since, the refurbished price has more than doubled. Wouldn't have purchased this had the price been higher than what I paid.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2016Tough to pick up larger items like cheerios and jelly beans because of the rubber bumper in front of the spinning brush. It does do hard floor/carpet transitions smoothly. It is not light enough for for my wife or mother to take advantage of the ball/handle twist, but the plastic has too much flex for my wrist, and it feels like if will break if I do not keep the red hose fully down in the slot to stabalise the handle (it is probably hard to visualize what I am saying, but it probably will not break due to over flex, yet it does not instill confidence either.
