My wife wanted a Dyson Animal vacuum cleaner. We had never owned a Dyson of any type, and we didn't want to spend a large amount to try one. We purchased this Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal Vacuum in October of 2016, and, unlike a number of other purchasers, we've had no problems with it. It appeared to be new, and it has had plenty of use without failing in any way. We do use the wand periodically. My wife recently felt that it would be good to purchase the Home Cleaning Kit. When I searched for it, the Model Numbers seemed to be a problem since I could not locate a model number on the unit. It does have a serial number behind the canister. I called Dyson, and they refer to it as a UP14 vacuum. I asked whether the Home Cleaning Kit will fit this vacuum, and she said absolutely. I now will order one for her.

The Cinetic didn't suck up our dog hair.
We are a two (large) dog, one (slightly obese) cat, one (somewhat messy) child household so we have to vacuum every day. We've used a Dyson DC24 for a number of years and it suddenly stopped functioning properly. As good as the DC24 was I figured it was time to upgrade. I wanted to stick with Dyson and I liked the filter-less tech in the Cinetic. I have to point out that our dogs shed quite a bit (hence the reason to run the vacuum daily) and I know how much they shed based on what was sucked up by the DC24 on a daily basis over a number of years. Right out of the box I was not impressed with the fact that the Cinetic did not suck up dog hairs. While the dirt canister is bigger on the Cinetic and it did suck up dirt I could tell by looking that there weren't many dog hairs. I also noticed that the Cinetic would have difficulty sucking up simple things like little fuzz balls. I'd have to run over them multiple times or at right angles. I was so not impressed with the Cinetic that I took my DC24 to the shop, where it was diagnosed with a simple blockage. I brought the DC24 back home and after I ran the Cinetic over our carpet I followed it up with the DC24. There was hardly anything in the canister for the Cinetic while the DC24 was full of dog hairs and dirt . Attached is a photo showing the amount of dog hair I sucked up in that initial vacuuming. I have run this little experiment several times and the results have always been the same. No matter how much crud the Cinetic picks up (and it always gets run first) the DC24 picks up almost all of the animal hair. I can't begin to speculate why a 5+ ear old DC24 is outperforming this Cadillac of a vacuum, but I have the photos to prove it. I'll be returning this to Amazon and will be sticking with my old, noisy, DC24 for the foreseeable future. I might even sink a little more $$ in it. Why should I reinvent the wheel when what I have works well? In closing, if you've made it this far - look at the percentages of the ratings on this product. For something that costs this much and has 'negative' (<3 stars) feedback at a rate of 25%...that speaks volumes.
