Finally Klipsch dialed back the harshness! I was using a Hitachi HMA 7500 (75x2) to power them and they were impressive with all types of music. Full tight sound in the 20x15 room. Detailed and balanced. Now using a Marantz SR8400 to bi-amp them at 220 watts per speaker and they sound incredible! Instruments and voices sound lifelike. When I first set them up they were too close to the wall and it muddied up the midrange. Keep the rear ports at least 12" from the back wall. The manual says to keep the speakers at least 6 feet from each other toed-in. Go ahead and audition them at Fry's, shake the salesman's hand and walk out. If you're anything like me you'll be ordering them from your phone in the parking lot. BTW these can be bi-amped with any Home theater receiver. Mine is a 7.1 but when bi-amped its effectively a 5.1.

Update 4/19- Now using a Topping DX7s DAC and Hitachi HMA-7500. Sounded great but then I put a 20lb. Kettle bell on top each one and the realism got even better especially voices. I've read most speakers have noisy cabinets unless they're crazy expensive. Try weights on top of whatever speakers you have I bet you'll like it. And your guests will think you work out.

I'm a bit of an audiophile and I can highly recommend these speakers for two-channel stereo configurations or as front main speakers for a surround sound system. They're crystal clear and deliver excellent treble and mid-range. They're lacking bass punch, but that's to be expected with only 6.5" drivers. I paired these with a 12" powered subwoofer to round out the sound and I'm very happy with them. The enclosures are visually very appealing and feel very solid. Klipsch makes a great product.

I have no quibble at all with the audio output of these speakers -- they sound fantastic. Very detailed, airy, dynamic. What more could you want? I expected that they might be a bit weak on the bass side, having 6.5" woofers, but I was wrong. I have a pretty beefy subwoofer so I wasn't too concerned. My Yamaha receiver has a "pure direct" mode which, frankly, sounds better than the processed/equalized modes with music. My concern was that that mode bypasses the subwoofer. Well, turns out, no problem. I had to double check that the sub was, indeed being bypassed because with music, the bass was quite strong.
The construction of the cabinets is also good. The bass drivers have stamped frames, rather than the more robust cast frames. The crossovers appear to be reasonably good quality (air coil inductors for treble, solid core for bass, if that is important to you.)
I wasn't too wild about the vinyl cherry finish, however. Too me it looked too much like what it was -- fake wood. Like a 1970's LTD station wagon. I appreciate that Klipsch puts the money where it really counts but I would have paid more for a real wood veneer finish. I would have bought the rf7's if except for their size. My solution was to by buy a couple of 'blemished' units, strip off the vinyl and refinish them myself in real veneer. Now I have great sound AND great looks!
Klipsch, if you're paying attention, I'd vote for offering a higher-end speaker that's not the size of a refrigerator. Just my 2c.

Phenomenal speakers. I used them for a classical analogue stereo setup (2.0 I guess) and they just sound amazing. I wanted to go for the HiFi sound from the 80's and found it with these speakers. I was afraid that nowadays all speakers will have to be paired with a powered subwoofer. Not these, they sound phenomenal all on their own from low, mid to high frequency. Really happy with them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Le son matérialisé
Reviewed in France on July 20, 2016
