First, the item arrived as described in a new box. Please be careful as I have had bad experiences with Amazon with used items being sold as new. However, customer service prevails. In this case they were not needed.
Second, it was easy to set up AS LONG as you have an iphone handy. I am an android user and did not have an iphone. I did buy the LTE version but you MUST have an iphone to get the process set up first. You can use a family member's iphone but you will always need that iphone handy when making some major changes. So I recommend realizing that you will need an iphone available. I can't imagine asking the grandparents or another family member for help each time I want to make some major changes to the phone. My daughter can change some items and modify but the phone works best. I had an old iphone but you need to have that phone compatible with certain IOS version to make it work. Therefore, I think any iphone that receives updates (X or greater perhaps/check on this though) will work. I ended up getting an iphone 11 used which serves as a work phone and the problem was solved. I suggest android users keep this in mind. Also, if I need to make changes to my daughter's watch that require a phone both watch and cell phone must be near each other.
The watch works well for what we need it for. We have verizon and no lost signals. It works consistently when needing to reach her. She finds it easy to maneuver. We limit certain options so the fact is that she isn't constantly fixated on the watch. She uses it when she needs to but otherwise its forgotten on her wrist or charging station.
Some areas that are lacking:
- voice to text- my kid constantly fights with this. I have a pixel watch and it is EASY to voice-text dictate. My kiddo has to constantly change what the watch types almost 99% of the time. I have a different experience with my pixle where it gets things right about 99% of the time.
- Battery life- The first time my child used it the watch died bc she didn't realize she should x out of things she opened. So it drained the battery quickly. However, once we figured this out and modified the settings it works well. We must charge it nightly and the charge lasts one day of moderate use (she is not a heavy user of the watch and is not texting on it consistently).
-Find My- This works better than the gizmo but sometimes doesn't update as quickly as we would like. It is much more accurate though but could use a little work.
Other than that my child isn't using other features much on this and that is ok with us. We need to reach her and her us and that is perfect for our needs.
