Square spares no expense when it comes to packaging their hardware. Even the $15 dock for this item came packaged really well. The reader is well made and very sturdy. It feels like opening a high dollar Apple product with the robust box. The only issue I have come across is that pairing to another device such as another phone/tablet has to be done manually by pushing the little button on the bottom of the device. The button is recessed to stop accidentally pushing it, however, this makes it require two hands to press it, making it where you have to lay your other device down to push the button.As for connection range between the bluetooth card reader and your device running the Square App, you can expect roughly 20-25ft before the card reader is no longer able to communicate with the Square App. The card/chip reader does auto reconnect to the last used device, making using it on one device pretty straight forward and reliable. The only issue I can see at the time of writing this review is that your customers might be concerned about popping their charge card in a handheld device that is not familiar to them. People trust cell phones/tablets more then a pocket sized device they have never seen before.

I don’t know why but I decided to try the Shopify card reader before getting this one. It was so glitchy and the set up was a nightmare. I returned it immediately.
I wish I would have gotten the square from the beginning. Setup was a breeze and it’s all in one app (unlike Shopify) . Nice and simple. Just what I need as a seller at a farmers market.

I'm very new to selling my artwork and want to one day make it my career, and with this Square reader, it makes my goal that much more realistic and easy to achieve. I've been going to some local art events to sell some work in person and this thing is a GAME CHANGER.

Trust me, if you're a small artist, it is 100% worth it to invest in a card reader, and Square has been very reliable and extremely easy to use. I'm usually a nervous, anxious wreck when it comes to trying new technology like this, but setting it all up was an absolute breeze. I definitely made FAR more sales by having a card reader on hand. Having the option for cash, Venmo, PayPal etc. never hurts either, but almost all of my sales were through the Square card reader and it was so worth it.

I love that you can set up an inventory list on there to keep track of your sales, and you can also keep track of any cash sales as well. The app is very well organized, the battery life is great, and I had no connection issues at all. Every transaction went smoothly and quickly, and it even has the option of giving the customer a digital receipt! It just made me feel so professional right off the bat when I'm still such a rookie lol. I definitely plan to have this at every event I go to! :)

Using this for my online store when I'm selling at marketplaces, or conventions is a plus! I was surprised it came in a giant box for a small item, but otherwise it came right on time for my first con! The app was super easy to download and I placed all my items on my PC since it seemed easier that way before my set up was completed.

FRIENDLY TIP: If you're able to NOT purchase this, I would say you DON'T NEED TO since you can actually tap any contactless payments on the back of your phone depending on your Android/iPhone device. Just make sure you check your settings, and type "NFC", and turn it on for contactless payments and voila~
(I decided to purchase this anyways, since I am aware there are some people that have chip reader cards without the contactless payment.)

Love my new contactless reader! Its way better than the old plug in swipe reader. Its also nice because the tap or insert option doesn’t require a signature so it’s faster for your guest.
The charge lasts a long time.
I do wish it sent a wall plug with the charging cord, but nothing seems to anymore.
The size is nice because it fits in my pocket to keep it on me while working.
