Energizer Weatheready Rechargeable Compact Handheld Light helps you prepare for power outages with a rechargeable plug-in design. Designed for emergency situations, this rechargeable LED light features a built-in rechargeable battery and plugs into the wall so it's always charged and ready to help keep your family safe. This emergency flashlight is up to 4X brighter than standard LED technology and illuminates objects up to 30 meters away to give you the brightness you need when the lights go out. A retractable AC plug goes directly into any standard electrical outlet and folds out of the way while you use this Energizer flashlight. It charges overnight to provide 3 hours of runtime, and it has a red LED charging indicator that lights up to show you when this wall light is charging. Leave the switch in the on position while it charges so the compact flashlight turns on automatically when the power goes out, making it easy to find and convert into a handheld flashlight.

They had these at a vacation rental we used. It was up in the mountains and pitch black at night. The owners had these in the bathrooms and kitchen. They were a life saver and worked great. I love that they are re-chargeable and can just stay plugged in. And that there is a little red light so you can spot them in the dark, but not brighten the room. I bought several for our home and considering giving them as gifts for family members. Very happy with this purchase.

In any event, I have been buying this product for years now. It took me a minute to figure out that if one does not turn the light ON before plugging it in, it will not operate when the power goes off, so keep that in mind.

We do not get many power outages where I live, but last year we had a good one and I was very happy to walk around the house and see how well-lit the rooms were with these lights placed everywhere.

In the heavily trafficked rooms, I often use the emergency lights as a regular flashlight because they are so convenient. I have noticed that some of them will crap out after a certain period, and then I buy replacement lights. I think over the years that has happened about 3 times, so nothing major at this point.

I did try similar lights (all of which were returned) and finally settled on this one because it really meets my needs.
